UBS strengthens research team in Korea

Dean Kim will have responsibility for small and mid-cap stocks as well as for Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco).

UBS Warburg has appointed Dean Kim as equity research analyst to add to its Korean equity research team. Kim will have responsibility for small and mid-cap stocks as well as for Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco).

Commenting on the appointment, SH Lee, head of equity research, Korea, says, "I am confident that Dean's expertise in helping institutional clients and sales to understand the value proposition and business plans of successful early-stage technology companies will add significant value to our research capability in Korea." Kim will report to Lee and work closely with Alice Hui, regional utility analyst.

Armed with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Yale University and an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School in New York, Kim spent eight years at Deloitte Consulting, where he specialized in the energy industry advising Fortune 100 companies in US, Canada and Asia.

Kim also worked for two years as an analyst at Acumen Capital Finance Partners, a Canadian investment firm, where he had responsibility for telecoms and technology. Prior to that he served as telecom specialist at South New England Telecommunications Corporation in Connecticut, US.
