Standard Life hires Korean equities manager

Oh Sun-hee departs Alliance Capital in Singapore.

Oh Sun-hee has joined Standard Life Investments in Hong Kong as investment director for Korean equities. She comes from Alliance Capital Management in Singapore, where she had been a portfolio manager in the emerging markets team.

She brings experience in both regional and Korean equities to Standard Life and reports to Elizabeth Soon, who is the head of Pacific basin investment. Standard Life now has eight investment professionals in the region. With the Korean markets rebounding and the economy looking at sustainable growth, the firm needed to bolster its capabilities.

Standard Life Investments opened its Hong Kong office in February last year and currently manages $2.5 billion in assets in Asia ex-Japan.
