Nomura assembles HSBC equity quartet

Four former HSBC equity market experts have joined Nomura.
Nomura has appointed four former HSBC staff to its Asian equity division in an effort to expand its UK and Europe distribution.

Christopher Harding has been appointed head of Asian sales for Nomura International in London. He will be managing the bank's Asian equity sales team. He was previously with HSBC in London and has experience in equity brokerage and fund management.

Jonathon Hope also joins Nomura's Asian equity team from HSBC in London, where he spent six years working as the Hong Kong/China equity salesperson.

Anna Katz has previously worked in HSBC, Merrill Lynch, Swiss Bank, ING Barings, and NatWest as a senior in Asian equity sales.

Elizabeth Wong will begin at Nomura in August. Bringing 14 years of experience in equity sales with her, Wong will service mainly to Italian institutions. Prior to this, she worked for ING Barings and HSBC.

"We remain totally committed to growing and developing the Asian equity business," says Imatoki Takeshi, co-head of global Asian equity sales. "I am confident that the quality and experience of these new senior hires will both complement the existing skills already in place and will also provide added depth to our distribution capacity."
