CSFB expands (not contracts) Asian equity team

Credit Suisse First Boston has announced four new hires to its Asian equity sales team.

From Deutsche Bank come David Summerfield and Ashley Silveira who will be directors in the Hong Kong office. Both have over 10 years experience in Asian sales, with Summerfield taking up a senior salestrading position and Silveira a sales role. Silveira has also previously worked for CSFB in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.

From Merrill Lynch, the bank has hired Fiona Wong as a vice president. She will be responsible for sales of Hong Kong and China equities to institutional clients.

Finally, the bank has also appointed Richard Liu to its Taipei office. Liu formerly worked for Credit Lyonnais Securities and will be a director in the equity sales team.

Commenting on the new hires, SJ Hwang, CSFB's head of non-Japan Asia cash equities says, "We are very pleased to announce such high calibre hires. Their appointments demonstrate our commitment to further strengthen our capabilities in responding to clients' needs in Asia."
