CSFB adds two to its Asian equity team

Credit Suisse First Boston has appointed Daniel Blanchard and Thomas Deng to its Asian equity team.

Daniel Blanchard has been appointed as a vice president specializing in Asian oil and gas research.

Blanchard comes from Salomon Smith Barney in New York, where he covered the Canadian independent exploration and production sector. Prior to SSB he spent two and a half years with Lehman Brothers in New York.

Thomas Deng has been appointed vice president, China equity research. He will be responsible for covering red chip conglomerates and selected China domestic B-shares and A-shares.

Prior to joining CSFB Deng was an analyst at BNP Paribas Peregrine, where he covered information technology hardware, aviation and China financials.

Both positions are based in Hong Kong.

Commenting on the appointments, SJ Hwang, head of Asian equity research at CSFB says: "With economies in the developed world showing strains, investors are increasingly turning their attention to emerging markets and Asia, in particular. Expanding our coverage in strategic areas, such as China and energy, is an opportune step in strengthening CSFB's franchise."
