Northern Trust has hired Fifi Ting as Asia-Pacific head of sales and client service for its asset management arm, Northern Trust Global Investments.

She started in the newly created post on November 30, joining a team of more than 20 investment professionals in the region.

Ting's remit is to build NTGI's presence and expand Northern Trust's coverage of large, sophisticated institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, central banks, national pension funds and government entities. Northern Trust's newly appointed Asia-Pacific chief executive Teresa Parker recently told AsianInvestor more about the group's plans in this area.

With 15 years of industry experience, Ting was previously responsible for client relations at AIG Investments in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. She has also worked for ABN Amro Asset Management and HSBC Asset Management.

Chicago-based Northern Trust Corporation provides investment management, asset and fund administration, banking solutions and fiduciary services for corporations, institutions and affluent individuals. As of September 30, the group had assets under custody of $3.2 trillion and assets under management of $558.9 billion.
