ING Barings adds to Asia fixed income team

ING Barings announces a senior sales appointment to its fixed income team in Hong Kong.

ING Barings has appointed Alvin Chua as director of fixed income sales, Asia. In his new role, Chua will be focusing on selling structured products, credit derivatives, high grade and high yield bonds to local and foreign institutional investors.

Prior to joining ING Barings, Chua spent two years at Chase Manhattan providing fixed income coverage, distributing Asian, US and European credit products as well as credit derivatives to the Greater China region. Before Chase Manhattan, Chua was the head of credit sales in Hong Kong and the head of the Asian fixed income sales desk in New York for Lehman brothers. Prior to Lehman Brothers, he spent over fours years at Merrill Lynch in fixed income sales.

"We are currently seeing strong demand for a broader range of fixed income products, with many institutional clients seeking to diversify their emerging markets portfolio. We believe that with this appointment we will be able to better service client needs," commented Christopher Smith, head of Debt Products Group, Asia for ING Barings.
