AsianInvestor earns accolades at State Street Press Awards
AsianInvestor’s team of financial journalists was recognised for its industry-leading coverage in three categories at the State Street Institutional Press Awards Asia Pacific 2023.
The website's stories won high praise in the pensions, investor services, and editorial comment categories at the prestigious awards, which celebrates outstanding reporting on financial institutions in Asia Pacific.
Indira Vergis was highly commended in the pensions category, for her July piece profiling Indonesia’s pension fund BPJS Ketenagakerjaan’s growing interest in private equity, making AsianInvestor among the few English news websites to interview the pension fund.
Shusi He was highly commended for investor services, for her speedy and exhaustive coverage of Asian family offices exploring alternatives to Credit Suisse soon after the Swiss bank's collapse. The story also flagged the damage done to Switzerland's reputation as a wealth booking centre.
Hans Poulsen was also highly commended for best editorial comment for his editorial arguing that political interference derails public asset owners’ focus on investment returns.
This year’s awards process received over 180 submissions from flagship and trade publications alike. Journalists based in six Asian markets were awarded.
The winners, and highly commended entries, were announced on November 28.
All entries were anonymously judged on style, content, accuracy and timeliness by an independent panel of seven judges picked from journalism, academia, government, professional bodies and financial entities.
The State Street Institutional Press Awards Asia Pacific, now in the eighth edition, returned in 2023 after being suspended after its last version in 2018.
