Clariden Leu strengthens Singapore team

The Swiss private bank poaches Vincent Wang, Liew Chin Choy and Charles Yeoh from competitors to strengthen its offering in Asia.

Boutique Swiss private bank Clariden Leu has made three appointments in Singapore. Vincent Wang has joined as head of treasury and execution for Asia; Liew Chin Choy will be head of mid-office; and Charles Yeoh has been appointed senior portfolio manager.

Wang joins from Morgan Stanley in Asia where he was an investment representative and has also done stints with Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan and Citi in Singapore. He started at Clariden on August 25 and reports functionally to Britta Haeberling, the firm's Zurich-based head of execution and direct access clients, and locally to Andrea Carl, who heads products and services for Asia.

Liew Chin Choy was earlier head of Asia-Pacific business management at Merrill Lynch and has also worked at Deutsche Bank and Paribas Merchant Banking Asia. He is charged with developing Clariden Leu’s mid-office service offering and strengthening its booking centre platform in Singapore. Liew reports to Markus Buck, chief operating officer for Asia, who is also based in Singapore.

Charles Yeoh has joined from Deutsche’s private wealth management team as a senior portfolio manager, specifically to enhance the bank’s Asian equities and bond expertise. Yeoh reports to Singapore-based Chew Soon Gek, who heads portfolio management and investment strategy for Asia. Chew also joined from Deutsche Bank last year.

"These new appointments strengthen [our] reputation and are part of our overall strategy to build up a highly experienced team in Asia comprising professionals with strong track records and a profound knowledge in wealth management," said Jimmy Lee, chief executive officer for Asia at Clariden Leu. Lee joined Clariden last year to drive the private bank's Asia growth.
