Cheong Soon Tan moves to Merrill Hong Kong

The latest move by Merrill Lynch to boost its International Private Client Group.

Merrill Lynch has announced that Cheong Soon Tan is relocating from Singapore to spearhead the firm's International Private Client (IPC) group's Greater China operations. Cheong is a managing director with the firm and will have responsibility for Merrill's IPC activities in Hong Kong, Taiwan and in the future, China.

Cheong has been with Merrill Lynch since 1989 when he joined from DBS. A specialist private banker, Cheong has risen quickly through the ranks and most recently was joint general manager of Merrill Lynch International Bank in Singapore.

Separately Merrill has also announced that Kimberly Parker has been appointed the market leader for the firm's Asian US market and Asian US complex - a series of offices in the US aimed at managing the wealth of Asians resident there. Parker has previously worked in Merrill Lynch's IPC offices in New York and Paris. She will be based in San Francisco.
