At AsianInvestor's recent Insurance Investment Forum in Hong Kong we sat down to interview Sophia Cheng, chief investment officer at Cathay Financial Holdings.
Cheng had earlier participated in a panel discussion on the challenges liability-driven investors face as they hunt for yield in the low-rate environment while trying not to compromise on risk, as reported.
In our video interview Cheng discusses a range of topics that we have broken up into three short clips. In this second extract we discuss what part alternative investments play in the firm's asset liability management process.
Aside from mortgage lending, Cheng talks about the private markets, particularly its investments into infrastructure and property. She also discusses the flexibility of the regulatory regime domestically, including capital charges on private equity and venture capital.
