It was a full house in the Conrad HotelÆs ballroom in Hong Kong for the AsianInvestor 2006 Achievement Awards gala dinner. This was the fifth instalment of the annual celebration. Dr. Robert Mundell, 1999 Nobel Laureate for economic science, delivered an after-dinner speech, while magazine editor Jame DiBiasio hosted the event. In addition to the awards for institutional funds management, hedge funds and service providers, AsianInvestor declared Shinkong Life Insurance of Taiwan to be its Institutional Investor of the Year. Victor Hsu, CFO at Shinkong, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
AsianInvestor also announced Mercer Human Resources Consulting won a competition sponsored by the magazine to design Hong KongÆs future retirement system. The dinner raised over HK$50,000 for the Christina Noble ChildrenÆs Foundation.
