Standard Chartered appoints derivatives heads

The bank has hired a new regional head of interest rate derivatives and head of interest rate options trading.

Standard Chartered Bank has announced the appointment of Wei-jin Kua as regional head of interest rate derivatives, Southeast Asia, and Blair Ronald Kambar as head of interest rate options trading, Hong Kong.

Kua, who will be based in Singapore, will be responsible for the interest rate derivatives business in Southeast Asian currencies. He was formerly at Barclays Capital in Singapore where he held the position of director and head of Asia (ex-Japan) for interest rate derivatives trading and risk management. Prior to this, he was VP of Asian trading and distribution at Bankers Trust in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Kambar, previously VP of structuring and trading at Sanwa Financial Products in Hong Kong, joins Standard Chartered to manage interest rate options trading and sales in liquid currencies. He will be based in Hong Kong.

Both Kua and Kambar will report to Michael Bass, global head of interest rate derivatives trading in Singapore.
