Remmer sails to SG CIB

Firm appoints director in its regional shipping finance team.
Andreas Remmer has jumped ship from Nordea to Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking (SG CIB) to take a role in its regional shipping finance team. Based in the French firmÆs Hong Kong offices, Remmer will take on the role of director in the Asia-Pacific shipping finance team within the asset finance group.

He reports to Logan Chong, SG CIBÆs head of shipping finance, Asia-Pacific and will focus his attention on Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Australia.

His arrival at SG CIB comes as the firm is continuing to bolster its shipping finance franchise globally. This division specialises in providing structured and value-added vessel franchise solutions to shipping clients worldwide. ItÆs shipping finance division also provides tailor made financing and advisory services across a wide range of assets using its tax, accounting, legal, market and asset expertise.

SG CIB currently has a regional presence in China, Korea and Japan for shipping finance. According to SG CIB, it is also looking to further expand its footprint in Southeast Asia and Australia.

At Nordea Bank in Singapore, Remmer was a relationship manager responsible for shipping, offshore and oil services clients in Japan, Korea, Singapore and India. Prior to working for the Scandinavian Bank, Remmer was an in-house lawyer for Bank of Aland in Finland.
