The pressures of regulation and the challenges of asset and liability management were among the key issues under discussion at AsianInvestor's Insurance Investment Forum in Hong Kong on March 1.

The event brought together 140 delegates from 110 companies across Asia for a day of debate on key issues affecting the insurance sector.

The keynote address came from John Leung, chief executive of the Hong Kong Insurance Authority. And three leading regional chief investment officers  – AIA's Mark Konyn, Paul Carrett of FWD and Arnaud Miroudel of BNP Paribas Cardif – also underlined the importance of adapting to regulatory change in a panel discussion.

Later in the day, a panel of executives from Axa, Manulife, Swiss Re and AIA addressed the need to improve communication between investment and product development teams in order to reduce balance sheet, cash flow and duration risks.
