New US securities partner for Allen & Overy

Allen & Overy has appointed David Johnson as partner in its international capital markets practice based in Hong Kong.

Johnson, who is a US securities lawyer, will work with partners Peter Curley in Hong Kong and Ken Aboud in Singapore, and with other members of the US team of A&O.

Johnson has extensive experience in a wide range of international financial and corporate transactions,  recently focusing on representing issuers and underwriters in Asia in US SEC-registered and unregistered debt and equity financings. He also has a background  in tender and exchange offers, acquisitions, privatizations and corporate re-organizations.

Commenting on Johnson's appointment, Peter Curley said in a statement: "This move follows on from Ken's appointment in November 2000 and shows our strong commitment to our US law group in Asia. Our strengthened capabiltiy in Asia to advise issuers and the world's leading investment banks on New York law-goverenced documentation is excellent for the capital markets and US securities teams throughout A&O."

Johnson comes from the Hong Kong offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen  & Hamilton, where he spent over six years.
