New CEO for 1st Silicon

Malaysian semi-conductor company 1^st Silicon has announced the appointment of Dr John Nelson as chief executive officer. Nelson joined 1^st Silicon as chief operating officer in May this year and has been acting CEO since September, succeeding Claudio G Loddo.

Prior to joining 1^st Silicon, Nelson was chief operating officer at General Semiconductor for two years. He has spent much of the last decade in Taiwan, serving in a number of executive roles. He was president of General SemiconductorÆs Asia Pacific operation following their divestiture from General Instrument, where he had also held the position of president.
