Merrill boosts Korean investment banking

The US investment bank hires Hyunseung Lee from management consultants AT Kearney.

Merrill Lynch has appointed Hyunseung Lee as a vice president in the firm's Korean investment banking business. Lee joins from AT Kearney, where he spent 18 months as a director, focusing on strategy development for the financial sector and facilitating post-merger integration.

Prior to AT Kearney, he acted as secretary to the Finance Minister, conducting analysis on corporate sector reforms and providing regular economic briefings. Prior to this, he was a deputy director at the MOFE, responsible for devising a new regional development planning system.

Before this, he worked as a deputy director at Korea's Economic Planning Board. He was initially based in the economic monitoring and analysis division where he helped develop Korea's seventh economic and social development plan. Later he was based in the policy co-ordination division, where he researched and analyzed issues relating to deregulation and competition.
