Goldman tech boss goes to JPMorgan

JPMorgan has swooped on Goldman''s tech team and lifted its head, Helge Weiner-Trapness.

If you've heard the rumour that JPMorgan is agressively hiring, then proof that it is true comes this morning with its hire of Goldman Sachs managing director, Helge Weiner-Trapness.

JPMorgan has lifted the head of the technology group - the self-same group that won FinanceAsia's tech house of the year thanks to its work for TSMC, Legend, Acer and Compal.

The Swede will join JPMorgan as co-head of it newly restructured general industries group with Philip Jackson. This group will now take in the entire Asia-Pacific, including Japan and Australasia.

Before arriving in Asia, Weiner-Trapness had done a lot of work in general industries and healthcare in Europe.

Rumours that Weiner-Trapness is taking a team with him to JPMorgan are denied by Goldman, and don't look very credible given he is moving out of the tech area anyway.

Goldman has not announced a new head of tech. In addition, the cornerstone of its tech business is in Taiwan and those relationships are managed by its Taiwan-based Asia vice-chairman, Hsueh Sung.
