ABN Amro makes new research appointments

A reshuffle is to take place in ABN Amro as its head of Asian research Stewart Callaghan takes up a new position in London.

ABN Amro has announced the appointments of Stewart Callaghan as deputy global head of research and Michael Baptista as the bank's head of pan-Asian research.

Callaghan, who has been with ABN Amro since 1997 following a previous stint in the New Zealand treasury, is the current head of Asian research and will relocate from Hong Kong to London to take up his new post on 1 November.

Baptista, who presently leads the bank's Japanese research team, will move to Hong Kong from Tokyo to take up Callaghan's mantle at the start of October. He joined ABN Amro in 2000 and has previously held Asian and European bank analyst roles at CSFB and Bear Stearns.
