SWIFT shifts Consolini

After driving the development of SWIFTNet FIX in Asia-Pacific, he relocates to London to become head of global sales.

SWIFT is sending Marcus Consolini from Hong Kong to London to become its new head of global sales- SWIFTNet FIX. Consolini will relocate to London and leave his current position as head of regional sales, Asia-Pacific, which will be filled shortly.

The move follows Consolini's contribution over the past year - one which saw SWIFTNet FIX adopted more quickly in Asia than other parts of the world. In 2004, he opened up new markets with top-tier security firms in Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea and Australia and developed the Asia-Pacific region into its highest growth market for messaging traffic.

In the new job Consolini will repots to Francis Remacle, head of the securities industry division at SWIFT and will manage a global sales initiative consisting of six regional SWIFTNet FIX product team leaders with 13 commercial participants.

"Now that we have the SWIFTNet migration behind us, we'e looking forward to Marcus helping our clients globally harness the potential of our network infrastructure for new services such as SWIFTNet FIX Hub," says Ian Buckley, director, securities industry division, Asia-Pacific, SWIFT.

"Once they examine the inefficiencies and risks related to manual or multi-step processing in the pre-trade environment, clients see the value that straight-through-processing utilising SWIFTNet Fix offers," adds Consolini. "I am looking forward to replicating the success we'e had in Asia to other securities markets that SWIFT serves around the world."

The firm's SWIFTNet FIX service connects sell-side and buy-side firms and exchanges in the securities arena to multiple counterparties via a single IP-based connection over SWIFTNet.
