Retirement schemes management course offered

HKRSA and Hong Kong U. detail courses and conferences.

The Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association has released the details of a programme to teach retirement schemes management in conjunction with the University of Hong Kong’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (Space).

HKU-Space will hold a series of seminars to anyone interested in learning more about the course. Upcoming seminars will be Thursday, January 23 from 7-8pm; and Tuesday, February 11 from 1-2pm and 7-8pm. These will all be held at the Admiralty Centre, 18 Harcourt Road. Classes themselves kick off the week of February 24, and four courses are on offer: theory and practice in retirement schemes management; principles of retirement planning and counseling; retirement systems and regulatory framework; and communication and customer service in retirement schemes management. Each course costs HK$3,200 per attendee.

Separately, the HKRSA is hosting a seminar, “How to enrich retirement”, on Saturday, February 15 at the Conrad hotel. Information can be found at www.hkrsa.org.hk or you can ring them at 2147 0090. The agenda features Dr. EK Yeoh, Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food for the Hong Kong SAR government, speaking on investment instruments for growth in an ageing society.

Other speakers: Anna Rappaport of Mercer HR Consulting in Chicago, analysing how international trends and solutions may apply to Hong Kong; Stuart Leckie, HKRSA chairman, on improving the Mandatory Provident Fund; Tam Yiu-chung, chairman of the Elderly Commission, on the continuing contributions of the elderly; and Legco member Bernard Chan on the social impact on society of an ageing society.
