Institutional investors, fund managers, consultants and bankers crowded into AsianInvestor’s fifth annual Korea Institutional Investor Forum last month.

Overall more than 300 delegates attended the event at the Westin Chosun in Seoul.

Chief economist Connie Bolland of Economic Research Analysis presented the opening address on China’s 12th five-year plan and its likely impact on the investment community.

Michael Roberge of MFS Investment Management offered a macroeconomic view, while Ethan Hugo, portfolio manager at Pyramis Global Advisors, discussed US equities.

The morning also featured presentations on securities lending, a scientific equity approach to alternative investments and the value of a trend following CTA allocation to the long-only world.

The afternoon session was led by Jung Jong-yung, management team CIO at Korea Post Savings Bureau, outlining the government subsidiary’s investment plans.

The event also examined the outlook for alternative investments, the high-yield landscape and developing trends among institutional investors.
