More than 300 delegates crowded into AsianInvestor's third annual Southeast Asia Institutional Investment Forum at the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur on December 6 and 7.

Designed to highlight global investment opportunities for Asean institutions, the event's opening address was given by Connie Bolland, founder and chief economist of Economic Research Analysis.

Topics for discussion on the opening morning included investing in the CNH market and a China focus on RMB liberalisation, along with the proliferation of exchange-traded funds.

The afternoon saw a panel debate the key challenges in terms of corporate governance and risk management, followed by a presentation on collateral management.

The following day saw a keynote address from Jayant Menon, lead economist for the Office for Regional Economic Integration at the Asian Development Bank, with a macroeconomic overview on the investments outlook.

Other discussions included trends in Asia-Pacific asset management and what investors are concerned about for the coming five years.
