AsianInvestor hosted the second annual Art of Asset Management event in Hong Kong on November 19.

Asset managers, asset owners and regulators gathered at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel to discuss the biggest challenges that face asset management firms as well as opportunities for future growth. Topics included regaining trust, regulatory issues and how to get onto a distributor's platform.

On the CEO roundtable, a number of chief executives questioned the longevity of Ucits in the region in the face of proposed fund passport schemes, with BNY Mellon Investment Management's Asia Pacific CEO Alan Harden boldly predicting that Ucits' days in Asia are numbered.

Another panel discussed various ways for foreign asset managers to access China’s Rmb2.8 trillion ($459.6 billion) mutual fund market, noting that joint ventures are not the only option.
