Russell Investment Group in Australia has created a new investment strategist role and appointed Andrew Pease to fill it.

Pease will report to RussellÆs chief investment officer for the Asia Pacific, Peter Gunning, and will work with the firmÆs institutional clients to build on its investment consulting and managed funds businesses.

Russell has been building on its consulting services to Australian clients, creating an alternative asset and strategy research group, as well as a capital markets research group. The firm now has A$16 billion of Australian-sourced assets under management, much of this in multi-manager funds.

ôRussell is a global business and Australia continues to provide an important contribution to the groupÆs manager research effort as well as investment strategy innovation,ö says Gunning.

ôAndrewÆs blend of experience across macroeconomic, banking and capital markets issues will enhance our ability to provide thoughtful and practical investment advice and multi-manager solutions to our Australian institutional clients.ö

Pease spent four years as chief economist for JPMorgan in Australia, and prior to that was Australian head of research/senior economist at Nomura Securities. Pease joined Nomura from the Reserve Bank of Australia, where he spent six years working as an economist across the economic analysis and the economic research departments.
