Last year was a challenge for investment managers across the board in South Korea. Kospi equity index performance was poor, trading slow, bond managers tested by low yields and prices for alternative assets on the rise, making capital-raising more difficult.

It forced managers to innovate, and that is the theme that unites the winners in AsianInvestor's fifth annual Korea awards ceremony. Both retail and institutional investors in the country need to diversify, and these are the professionals and firms that did the best job of helping them in 2014.
