Far EasTone appoints a new chief marketing officer

Far EasTone, Taiwan''s fourth largest cellular operator, appoints a new chief marketing officer.

Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) has appointed Benny Chen as chief marketing officer, effective 1 May 2001.

Chen will be responsible for the execution of FET's business strategies and tactics for the primary customer facing functions, including consumer sales, marketing and customer operations.

Prior to this appointment, Chen worked for Citibank in London, where he was responsible for planning and implementing the bank's middle market business strategies on a global basis. Chen then returned to Taiwan in 1997 to head up the branch banking and investment business for Citibank. Before Citibank, Chen worked for McDonald's Corporation in Taiwan from 1983 to 1996. There, Chen held several roles, including CFO.
