Byrne made Deutsche prime broker

Deutsche Bank has appointed Anthony Byrne as director and head of Asia-Pacific equity prime services, which encompasses prime brokerage, structured equity finance and securities lending.

Byrne will be based in Tokyo and will report to Jim Rowen and Jon Hitchon, co-heads of global equity prime services in New York. Byrne will also have a local reporting line to Michael Reeber, head of Asia-Pacific equity derivatives.

Byrne has spent the past seven years in Japan and has a long background in equity derivatives. He has also served with Deutsche for four years. Before this appointment he was a member of the firm's Japan equity structured products team and was also responsible for the business management of Japanese equity derivatives. Prior to joining Deutsche, he was with National Westminster Bank in Japan and Australia. He has also worked at KMPG in Australia.

Deutsche employs 1,350 people in Japan for its investment banking, corporate banking and asset management businesses.
