UPDATED: Pimco poaches Shroff from Greenwich Associates

US-based Greenwich Associates saw its managing director for Asia-Pacific ex-Japan leave last week after nearly nine years with the investment research firm.

Abhi Shroff has remained in Singapore and joined US bond fund specialist Pimco as head of Southeast Asia business development, reporting to Scott Steele, Hong Kong-based head of institutional business for Asia ex-Japan.

Shroff replaces Anu Dhoraisingam, who left Pimco and joined PineBridge Investments as head of institutional business for Southeast Asia in February last year.

The move comes around two years after Shroff was promoted in early 2014 to the regional head role at Greenwich to succeed Markus Ohlig, who left in late 2013 after 11 years with the firm.

Prior to joining Greenwich Associates in 2007, Abhi worked with UBS’s investment bank in London. He began his career as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting, delivering client solutions in the Australian and Asian retail banking and asset management sectors.
