SSB boosts Taiwan research team

Salomon Smith Barney has announced two appointments to its Taiwan research team.

Jason Lin takes up the position of vice president and Taiwan PC hardware research analyst, and Chad Rademan as research analyst covering Taiwan’s equity market strategy, politics, regulation, and other cross-sectoral issues.

Lin previously worked with Credit Suisse First Boston and HSBC Securities Asia in Taipei, covering the same sector. He holds a Masters in International Affairs and an East Asian Institute Certificate, both from Columbia University, and an undergraduate degree in Economics from UCLA. He has also pursued doctoral studies in Political Economy at Northwestern University in the US.

His appointment brings SSB’s Taiwan-based technology team to three analysts and the regional team to nine.

Rademan was Bloomberg News’ Taipei Bureau Chief from 1998 to 2000, before joining Salomon Smith Barney. He has also worked in Hong Kong and New York as a journalist and researcher for Bloomberg and Institutional Investor magazine.

He received a degree in Chinese history from Amherst College in the United States and speaks fluent Mandarin.

The two, based in Taipei, will report directly to Otto Wong, regional head of Research.
