Goldman appoints technology research head

The bank has strengthened its technology research coverage with the appointment of Jon Ross as team head.

Ross will join Goldman as an executive director in April, following a two year stint in San Francisco as global sector head of technology at Indosuez WI Carr. Prior to this, he was based in Taiwan for eight years as country manager and head of research at ABN Amro.

Commenting on the appointment, Barry Mannis, Goldman's coo of global investment research says, "Jon's arrival will complete the build-out of our technology research team, which now numbers six senior analysts covering all areas of technology across the Asia Pacific region."

This team comprises: Tim Ariowitsch, who covers downstream businesses including PC manufacturers; Steven Gee and Winnie Hwang, who cover the semiconductor sector and; Seoul-based Shawn Kim, who covers Korean tech companies. Ross himself will cover foundry companies and DRAM manufacturers.
