Deutsche appoints head of North Asia equity capital markets

In a further indication of its commitment to climb the equity league tables, Deutsche has appointed Rowena Chu as head of North Asia ECM.

Chu joins the bank as a managing director reporting to Philip Southwell, head of ECM for Asia Pacific and Frank Nash, head of global corporate finance Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Chu returns to investment banking after a stint as CFO of ICG Asia, where she was responsible for capital structure and finance raising activities, as well as strategic merger and acquisition activities.

To most market participants, however, she is better known as the face of Asian technology at Merrill Lynch and prior to that, head of Greater China equity origination and co-head of Greater China investment banking at JPMorgan.

Commenting on the rationale behind the appointment Nash says, "Equity issuance is the staple of the investment banking environment in Asia and the growth of equity issuance in Asia will surpass that of any other region for the foreseeable future. Asia will continue to be a growth region for equity issuance compared to the rest of the world."
