Linklaters grows capital markets team

Dean Lockhart shifts to Singapore and Nigel Pridmore relocates from London to Hong Kong.
International law firm Linklaters has announced a number of moves that will strengthen its regional capital markets team in Asia. The firm will relocate Hong Kong partner Dean Lockhart to Singapore and will shift senior partner Nigel Pridmore from London to Hong Kong.

Lockhart will head to Singapore in November and will take with him a team of associates from Linklaters' existing global network. In Singapore, Lockhart will join the team headed by Kevin Wong, partner in LinklatersÆ capital markets practice. Lockhart will continue to service deals in Southeast Asia and India.

Lockhart has been working in Asia for 10 years, with postings in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. He has been a leading lawyer in the equity-linked market advising on deals for IndiaÆs HDFC in 2005 and CNOOC in 2004. More recently, Lockhart was involved in pre-IPO deals in Hong Kong and also has experience in equity (IPOs, REITs and GDRs) and debt/regulatory capital. He has also worked within the private equity sphere.

Pridmore, currently a senior partner in the firmÆs London offices, will transfer to Linklaters Hong Kong in November. Throughout his legal career, he has advised on a number of regulatory hybrid capital transactions in Europe. His practice also covers equity-linked, high yield and IPO matters, and includes a strong relationship in advising many of the worldÆs foremost investment banks.

The moves follow the recent lateral partner appointments to LinklatersÆ capital markets practice in Asia, which included the hiring of derivatives expert Chin-Chong Liew, who joined Linklaters in Hong Kong from Allen & Overy in May 2006; and the hiring of securitisation expert, Paul Kruger who joined Linklaters as a partner in the firmÆs Tokyo office in June 2005 from Clifford Chance where he was head of Asian capital markets. In total, Linklaters has over 100 capital markets lawyers in Asia and will be looking to expand in the near term.
