More than 300 delegates attended AsianInvestor's seventh annual Southeast Asian Institutional Investment Forum at the South Beach Hotel in Singapore on December 2 and 3.

The event opened up with macro presentations from James McDonald of Northern Trust and Alan Chua of Franklin Templeton Investments. It was followed by a panel debate on how to fund sustainable returns featuring Gary Gabriel of Aussie Super fund Hesta, Leo Hu of EM specialist NN Investment Partners and Garry Hawker of Mercer.

Making sense of China's economy was another morning panel discussion.

The afternoon included the evolution of hedge funds in investment portfolios, finding value in European equities and winners and losers in the economy of tomorrow.

A focus on emerging markets opened the second day of the conference, with the next big crisis a topic of debate alongside an analysis of factor-based investing.

Peter Ryan-Kane and Jayne Bok of Towers Watson brought some intergalactic entertainment by dressing up as Darth Vader and Princess Leia, respectively, to present opposing sides on how an Asian CIO should address today's environment. So inspired, we have added a Star Wars-themed online poll on our website.

The event closed with a discussion on financial technology and the investment world of the future.
