Clifford Chance builds up base in Singapore

Clifford Chance shows commitment to Asia with the appointment of lawyer Crawford Brickley as partner.

Brickley, who will be based in Singapore, joins the company on 1 May and will focus on the capital markets and M&A areas for the firm.

With experience as a US corporate lawyer in securities, M&A and venture capital financing, Brickley has spent the previous three years as managing partner of the four Asian offices of New York-based Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts (now Pillsbury Winthrop LLP).

Commenting on the appointment, Stephen Roith, head of Clifford Chance’s Asian capital markets practice in Hong Kong, says: “Singapore has become an important market for IPOs and other capital markets work in its own right, as well as increasingly acting as a regional center for deals originating in Southeast Asia or India. Expanding our US securities resource in Singapore will help us to maximize the opportunities arising from this by securing work on higher profile transactions as well as strengthening the US securities team in Asia overall.”
