Deutsche appoints co-heads for telco sector

Deutsche Bank puts focus on telecommunications sector in Asia with appointment of co-heads for the region.

Daniel Newman and David Clarke are the new co-heads of telecommunications banking for Deutsche Bank for the Asia Pacific region.

Newman joins Deutsche Bank from Salomon Smith Barney in Hong Kong, where he spent three years and was the co-head of telecommunications banking for Asia. Prior to Salomon Smith Barney, Newman held a similar position in SG Warburg in Hong Kong for four years. In his new position, Newman will be based in Hong Kong.

Clarke transfers from Deutsche Bank's London office and will be based in Tokyo. Prior to this new role, Clarke was a managing director, focusing on building relationships with some of the larger telecommunications companies in Europe. Before joining Deutsche Bank in 2000, Clarke was at Broadview International, an M&A investment bank in New York, where he focused on the alternative carrier sectors. Before this, he was co-head of corporate development for British Telecom's investments in India, Singapore and Korea.
