Fox-Pitt, Kelton hires Chris Appleton from SSB

Chris Appleton who was head of Asian sales at Salomon Smith Barney has joined Fox-Pitt, Kelton as head of asian equities.

Having worked in the Far East for almost two decades, the likeable Appleton who is, "one of the most experienced Asian brokers in town" according to a colleague at SSB will be a valuable asset to FPK, which has been steadily building its Asian operation in Hong Kong and London in recent years.

Colin McGill, managing director of FPK, says, "We're delighted that Chris has joined us. He will be based in Hong Kong, and his immense knowledge and understanding of the Asian equity market will be invaluable in expanding our growing franchise in the region. His expertise will neatly complement that of our Asia team in London."

After starting his career with the Asia Pacific Banking Department of Kleinwort Benson in London in 1982, Chris moved to Tokyo in 1984. Between then and 1997 he worked for first Baring Securities and later for BZW Securities Japan, before moving to Salomon Smith Barney in Hong Kong.
