SG Private Banking pulls Baer

Former Credit Suisse Private Banking bigwig takes on marketing head post.

Pierre Baer, formally head of Credit Suisse Private Banking for Southeast Asia, has been appointed to a newly created role at SG Private Banking (Asia Pacific) as executive director, regional head of marketing for the region.

In the new Singapore-based role, Baer will oversee the business development functions for SG Private Banking, managing the development of its marketing teams in North Asia and South Asia, as well as trust services. Additionally, he will be heavily involved in overseeing the expansion of its strategy of asset diversification from Europe to Asia.

"For the past five years, SG Private Banking's assets under management have been growing consistently and robustly and we expect this momentum to continue," says Pierre Mathe, global head of SG Private Banking. "In order to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of our clients, we need to ensure the most skilled executives are in-charge and that highly experienced people continue to join our team in Asia."

Baer's appointment comes as the firm has been bolstering its reputation around the region, illustrated through the hiring of Balakrishnan Kunnambath in March to provide investment and financial engineering solutions to high net worth non-resident Indians (NRI) and other private clients on the subcontinent.

Baer will report to Daniel Truchi, chief executive officer of SG Private Banking (Asia Pacific), chairman and CEO of SG Trust (Asia) and chairman of SG Private Banking (Japan).
