Lovells adds new partners to Asia teams

Timothy Lester and Douglas Clark have been elected as partners at international law firm Lovells, to be based in Tokyo and Hong Kong respectively.

Timothy Lester, who specializes in international capital markets and structured finance work, will continue to advise corporates, issuers, arrangers and financiers on a range of international capital markets transactions, in particular securitizations, repackagings, multi-jurisdictional asset finance deals and multilateral and bilateral secured and unsecured finance structures.

Douglas Clark, who specializes in intellectual property, has worked in Lovells' intellectual property practice since 1993 and has a strong background in both contentious and non-contentious IP work. He will work to expand the firm's mainland China IP practice.

Two senior assistants have also relocated from the firm's London office to Singapore. Vivianne Jabbour, who specializes in telecommunications, and John Mollard, who specializes in corporate and M&A, will both be part of the newly formed Lovells Lee & Lee joint law venture.

Commenting on the Asia expansion, Marc Bartel, director of International Projects and Asia regional manager, says: "Our current expansion in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo is a sign of our continued commitment to the region, notably to the market in Southeast Asia, where our corporate, banking and finance, capital markets, telecoms, litigation, information technology and intellectual property expertise are a particular strength."
