Yetsenga answers HSBC's call

New regional currency strategist departs Deutsche Bank for HSBC.

HSBC has appointed Richard Yetsenga as its new regional currency strategist. Yetsenga will move from Sydney to take up his new position at the end of November, where he will come under the corporate, investment banking and markets division.

His responsibilities will cover the entire Asian region including both Australia and Japan. In addition to boosting HSBC's regional markets business, Yetsenga will also assist in developing its global emerging markets currency products.

Globally, he will report to both Mike Newton, global head of emerging markets currency strategy and Mark Austin, the group's global head of currency strategy. In Asia he will report to Arup Raha, chief economist for the region.

HSBC poaches the high profile Yetsenga from the Sydney operations of Deutsche Bank, where he was currency strategist and deputy chief economist and a widely quoted authority on Australian dollar movements.
