Nanavati gets top job at Citi Malaysia

Citi veteran transfers internally to the post of head of corporate and investment banking in Malaysia.

Citigroup has announced that Sanjeev Nanavati has been appointed country head for its corporate and investment banking business. He will report to Catherine Weir, the Singapore-based managing director and head of ASEAN corporate & investment banking.

In the new position, he will oversee corporate banking, corporate finance, global transaction services, equities, fixed income and treasury and investment banking activities in Malaysia.

He transfers to the Kuala Lumpur offices from Citigroup's Hong Kong operations, where was previously the global head for Citigroup depository receipt services, managing all aspects of the ADR/GDR product offering globally. He transferred to Hong Kong in September 2004 from New York and first joined this Citi team in 2001.

On top of this position, Nanavati also spent six years as a head of corporate and investment banking at one of the largest international banks in India and 12 years working in the US and Hong Kong for another American bank in M&A and capital markets.
