Deutsche dials in Chakravorty

German bank creates a new role for a head of telecoms investment banking.

Deutsche Bank has announced the appointment of Ananda (Andy) Chakravorty as director and head of telecoms, global banking, Asia (ex Japan). The newly created role will be based out of Hong Kong, with Chakravorty reporting to Peter Tsao, managing director, head of technology, media & telecoms (TMT) in global banking Asia (ex Japan).

The new position allows Chakravorty to assume responsibility for the origination and execution of capital market and M&A transactions for telecom companies in the region.

Most recently, Chakravorty was a telecoms industry coverage banker with JPMorgan in Hong Kong since 1997. Recent transactions from DB's Asian TMT team include Elpida's Y111 billion IPO ($1.03 billion), a $215 million high yield bond deal for Singapore's STATS ChipPAC and in South Korea, Hynix's $830 million disposal of its non-memory IC business.
