China wants to encourage growth and consumer spending while avoiding economic overheating, says Naomi Denning of Towers Watson. She outlines some of her clients’ wishes and concerns about the mainland market.
Following a recent visit to China with institutional clients, Naomi Denning, managing director for Asia-Pacific at Towers Watson, spoke to Jame DiBiasio about how investors can access the domestic market and their concerns about doing so. Public equity markets still seem the most practical way of investing in China, despite the rapid growth of the private equity industry there.
Denning also discusses the government’s moves to increase spending by domestic consumers, but at the same time create sustainable growth.
