Merrill appoints Korean debt market head

Joonkee Hong rejoins the firm.

Merrill Lynch has announced that Joonkee Hong has rejoined the firm as head of Korean debt markets. He will be responsible for all fixed income cash and derivatives as well as equity derivatives sales and marketing activities to Korean clients.

Hong will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Antony Hung, head of Asia Pacific debt markets and HH Choi, head of global markets and investment banking for Korea.

Commenting on the new appointment Osman Semerci, Merrill's head of pacific rim global markets says, "Joonkee brings tremendous product and client knowledge and proven leadership skills to the pacific rim debt markets team."

Hong last worked with Merrill's Asian debt capital market's group between 1993 and 1995. For the last eight years Hong has been with UBS both in Hong Kong and Stamford, Connecticut. Most recently, he was UBS' global head of emerging markets derivatives based in Stamford.
