Nick Lord returns to Haymarket

Nick Lord has joined Haymarket in London to help FinanceAsia and AsianInvestor reach a bigger audience in Europe and the US.
Nick Lord: back to the fold

Nick Lord will be rejoining Haymarket Financial Media, publisher of FinanceAsia and AsianInvestor, as executive editor from January 2012. Based in Haymarket’s London office, Nick will be responsible for developing the company's finance brands, primarily in Europe and the US, through new initiatives in print, online, research and events.

Nick has a wealth of experience to bring to the role having spent 10 years in Hong Kong, which included being editor of FinanceAsia and executive editor of Financeasia.com. He has written for a wide variety of financial publications and, in addition to his journalistic experience, he has also worked as a specialist financial head-hunter in Hong Kong and New York with Heidrick and Struggles.

Nick worked at FinanceAsia for seven years, after joining in 1999, and has been a regular freelance contributor during the past couple of years. During this time he has covered a broad range of stories, from the rise of Asia’s super-regional banks and the growing wealth in Brazil to financial hitmen from the US Treasury’s office of terrorism and financial intelligence and the property market in Istanbul.

But his most popular FinanceAsia story by far dates back to his original stint with us, when he wrote about Misys hiring a new regional head. It became something of an internet sensation back in 2004.

His new role is part of a plan to expand the reach of Haymarket’s financial titles, both in terms of editorial coverage and distribution.

“Asia is part of the solution to the financial crises in Europe and the US, and so now is the time to globalise Haymarket’s Asian titles,” says Nick. “We will bring-on-the ground coverage of the global changes to the financial world to our extensive readership in Asia.

As well as reporting more frequently on important developments in Europe and the US, Haymarket will also aim to inform a new group of readers about Asian financial markets.

“We are going to expand our distribution further around the world, especially in the US and Europe where there is great interest in what is happening in Asia,” says Jonathan Hirst, Publisher of Haymarket Financial Media. “Furthermore there are huge opportunities to integrate the financial media businesses with Haymarket's other businesses.”

As anyone who knows Nick will appreciate, we look forward to working more closely with him again and hope that his unique zeal and creativity will help to enhance our coverage of global financial markets.
