Cooper lands at Merrill

Departs JPMorgan to drive Merrill''s equity-linked capital markets business in the Pacific Rim.

Merrill Lynch has signaled its intentions to further expand its regional capital markets and financing platform by bringing Andrew Cooper to the firm from JPMorgan.

From Hong Kong, Cooper takes on the title of managing director and head of equity-linked capital markets, Pacific Rim. For his new employers, Cooper's day-to-day responsibilities will consist of driving its equity-linked platform across the region with emphasis on providing structured solutions to the investment bank's issuer clients.

Upon commencement of the new role, Cooper reports to Ian Carton, head of Asian capital markets & financing, and to Alex Woodthorpe, head of Australia and Japan ECM.

At JPMorgan, Cooper was most recently head of equity capital markets and derivatives markets for the Asia-Pacific region. Before becoming a member of the JPMorgan family, he spent seven years at Lazard in equity structured finance.
