JF Asset Management appoints key senior fund managers

With three new hires, JF Asset Management expands its skills in the region.

Jardine Fleming Asset Management has announced three senior additions to its fund management teams in Asia and Japan. Chung Man Wing is Director and Head of the Greater China team, which concentrates on China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. In addition to leading the five-strong team he will also manage several mandates including JF Hong Kong Trust. Chung was previously CIO at HSBC Asset Management (Asia), and prior to that he successfully managed their Hong Kong and China funds.

David Choi rejoins Jardine Fleming after an 18-month absence, to lead the Korean fund management team and manage Korean equity mandates, including JF Korean Trust. He is a Korea specialist who was previously with JF Securities for ten years.

Mark Wood joins the Japan Portfolios Group in Tokyo and is responsible for the management of the JF Japan Trust - the largest Japan fund at US$500 million. Woods joins JF from TALCEF Global Asset Management, and was previously with HSBC Asset Management where he was Head of Japanese Equities in Tokyo for three years.

Commenting on the appointments Roger Ellis, CIO of JF Asset Management said, "These three appointments are significant additions to our teams. Man Wing will provide strong leadership for the Greater China team at an important time in the development of its economies and stock markets. David will play a major part in the development of our Korean business, and Mark brings with him an excellent reputation for managing Japanese funds. With them, and the rest of our fund management team in Asia and Japan, we are looking forward to a very strong year ahead."
