Deutsche’s RREEF adds Ghai for SE Asian property

Rahul Ghai has been hired by RREEF, the real estate investment management business of Deutsche Bank’s Asset Management division. He will be based in Singapore and his new job title is the director of acquisitions and asset management for Southeast Asia.

He will take charge of RREEF’s investment activities in Southeast Asia with a focus on Singapore and Australia. This is a newly created role, so he's not replacing anyone.  RREEF wants to build its investment management capabilities in Asia-Pacific.

The firm says a number of its clients are looking to increase their exposure to the region, and Rahul Ghai’s first task is to assist with the deployment of client capital into Singapore and Australia. He is currently looking into several transactions in those markets.

In this new job he will report to Asia-Pacific chief investment officer Paul Keogh. Ghai has broad real estate investment experience across multiple assets, having worked most recently at Standard Chartered Bank, and previously at Istithmar World and Jones Lang LaSalle.

Deutsche says their new man is versatile and that ability synchronises well with RREEF's cross-border activities which involve transaction origination, underwriting, transaction structuring and capital-raising.
