Paul Hastings boosts HK real estate practice

New partner for US law firm as it beefs up its Hong Kong property expertise.

US law firm Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker has announced that John Cahill will relocate to the firm's Hong Kong office as partner and head of the real estate finance practice. He will focus on real estate, real estate finance and real estate-related M&A transactions, including non-performing loans and distressed asset sale transactions.

"We are pleased to welcome John as a partner in Hong Kong," says Neil Torpey, Managing Partner of Paul Hastings in Hong Kong. "His extensive experience representing major financial institutions and other institutional investors in complex domestic and cross-border commercial transactions will be a major asset to the firm. At a time when asset restructuring and acquisitions connected to debt obligations is of particular importance in Asia, his expertise is in great demand."

Paul Hastings has committed itself to the Hong Kong legal market in recent years. In 2002 it announced an association with Koo & Partners, one of the largest Hong Kong local firms.
